Howard Coble was from Greensboro, NC and served as a U.S. Congressman for 30 years. He was known for being friendly and kind to everyone by greeting people with a smile and a wave. He embraced his own uniqueness with signature style often donning a brightly colored plaid sports jacket and handsome fedora. Though he worked in a politically charged environment often fueled by disagreements and opposing viewpoints, he was able to bring people together regardless of their political
sides. He made friends. He was known for working toward the good of all, helping people, giving of himself, his talents, and time, and being passionate as well as compassionate. He was proud of his home community, state, and country. Because of these character traits, we proudly named this special place for special people:
